Our Mission

Save Sag Harbor is an all-volunteer, civic organization dedicated to the preservation of our unique, historic Village through educational outreach and advocacy of non-partisan solutions that benefit our community culturally and economically.

Our History

Our first public meeting was held on July 15th, 2007. The organization started as a community-based effort to keep the village commercial district from becoming overrun by “Big-Box” retail chain stores that have come to populate what has become an anonymous and undifferentiated American landscape. Our intention was then, and is now, to ensure that independently-owned businesses and family-owned and occupied homes can continue to thrive in Sag Harbor, to preserve the “human-scale” proportions of our buildings, streets, waterfront, and interior and exterior spaces, to celebrate the non-uniform aesthetics of our storefronts and signage, and to safeguard our historic heritage for residents and visitors alike.

The “little things” mean the world to us.
